Yoga has changed my life. It can change yours too.

18 months ago, I quit my job and travelled to Koh Samui to become a yoga teacher. Something clicked and I haven’t looked back since. I did it first for myself, but then I discovered the passion of teaching and sharing my practice to help others.

Hello, my name is Roberto. I come from beautiful Puglia in Italy but London has been my home city for almost 20 years. I worked for luxury brands for most of that time, first in sales then in management. But the pressure became too much.

Fitness and yoga have helped me cope with the stresses of living and working in a fast-paced environment since I moved

to London. I even became a successful personal trainer during a 5-year break from retail. As I started thinking about what to do next, yoga became the natural answer. I found an amazing yoga teacher training at Vikasa in Koh Samui and booked myself on the next available course. The following day, I gave my notice at work… It was scary and exciting at the same time, but deep down, I knew that I was making the right decision.

I remember taking a picture of the big Thai Airways plane that I was about to board and posting it with the caption: ‘The beginning of a new journey’. The 4-week intensive yoga teacher training truly transformed me. Not only did I learn to teach yoga, I also reconnected with nature, with food, and with myself. Under total immersion, I deepened my understanding of everything that yoga represents. Yoga is not only about the asanas (the ‘poses’), it is a way of life. And it all made sense to me.

I returned a changed man. I had left behind the beautiful scenery of Koh Samui, but the principles of yoga were deeply anchored in my mind and soul. I was back in London and determined to continue on my journey to evolve my own practice and share my newly acquired skills.

Fast forward 12 months and I have developed my own style, which is based on Vinyasa yoga. Today I teach in several gyms and studios across London, although currently it is mostly online given the lockdown.

I’m also committed to pursuing my own development and I’m currently taking a second, more advanced, yoga teacher training at the Julie Montagu School of Yoga. And because I believe in a holistic approach to healthy living, I am excited to announce that I have also become an Arbonne consultant. Arbonne offers an amazing range of plant-powered nutrition and all-natural skincare. I was introduced to it by a fellow yoga teacher and it really works for me, so I thought I would share these nutrition and skincare tips with my yogi students.

I hope this gives you a little insight about myself. My journey continues as I learn every day, doing what I love, that is practicing and teaching yoga and meeting wonderful, like-minded souls along the way. For that, I am so grateful.

If you would like take one of my classes or check out the amazing Arbonne range, please take a look at my website and if you have any questions, feel free to get in touch. I hope to welcome you soon on the mat!
